The Neurotoxic Diet

 DETOX PROTOCOL FOR NEUROTOXIC SYNDROME

Step 1: Testing

Step 2: Subluxation Check

Step 3: Neurotoxic Diet (NTD)

Step 4: Physical Detoxification with the LBG, VIBE and Ion Cleanse

STEP 1: TESTING

Testing is a must to determine if neurotoxicity is a factor and what toxins we are up against. This also helps us determine the source and remove it before detox begins. Because every case is different, the doctor decides what tests are needed.

1 Toxicity Questionnaire

2 Applied Kinesiology (AK) testing

STEP 2: SUBLUXATION CHECK

You must get checked for subluxation. Subluxation disrupts the Central Nervous System (CNS) by interfering with the communication from your brain to each and every organ in your body. Because we are dealing with toxins that attack the CNS, it is almost impossible to clear these bad guys until the nerve system is able to cooperate. When structural problems exist at the spinal level, it causes extreme amounts of stress on the very system that is being toxified, and, unfortunately, it is the same system that is needed to run the detox pathways of your entire body. Clinically, we see this often in our practice.

STEP 3: CELLUAR DETOX and Neurotoxic Diet (NTD)

I call this diet the Neurotoxic Diet (NTD) because that is really the reason we suggest it to a patient. Chronically ill patients with symptoms such as autism, sensory integration, Asbergers, PDD, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, MS, Chron's, ALS, Parkinson's, Lyme, psychosis, heart disease, stroke, chronic sinus, ASTHMA, Migraines, anxiety and depression, and Epstein-Barr all can be classified as having "Neurotoxic Membrane Syndrome (NMS)". ***THIS IS BY NO MEANS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST.  This simply means that the cellular membrane is the target of degeneration. These patients will not get well until detoxified and regenerated at the cellular level, and that's exactly what we have designed this diet to do. I can tell you from personal experience with Mercury and Amalgam toxicity, as well as from clinical experience, that this diet REALLY works for NMS.

The Neurotoxic Diet (NTD) is just one part of our clinic's biomedical approach and must be done in conjunction with the other steps in our protocol in order to duplicate success. First, we maximize the God-given healing capacity of our body by removing anything that interferes with its amazing ability to heal itself. At this point in our protocol, we must eradicate neurotoxins such as heavy metals, viruses, and chemicals that have an affinity for fat in the body. Once they enter the body, they bind to structures that are high in fat such as the cell membrane, particularly the cells of the liver, kidney, joint capsule cells (causing Arthritis issues)and brain (any neural tissue). Neurotoxins typically dissolve the fat, enter the cell, and then disrupt the electrical balance of the cell itself, thereby disrupting energy metabolism in the cell. They also, by being an invader or antigen (foreign body) illicit an inflammatory response by the body in its attempt to wall-off the toxin from the rest of the body.  This may be the patient’s initial indication that something is wrong – i.e. an inflammatory response.

For that reason, our course of action begins at the cellular level, healing the cellular membrane and finally the body and brain. In an effort to fix the membrane, we must first stop the toxic inload from vaccines, dental amalgams, root canals, and chemical exposure, just to name a few. Not only is it important to get rid of the source of toxicity before starting to detoxify, but it is also imperative to stop the body from retoxifying itself, or healing will not occur.

In his book, Desperation Medicine, and in his peer-reviewed papers, Shoemaker 2001, Richie Shoemaker, M.D., discusses the retoxification sequence that must be broken before going to the next level of cellular healing. He speaks in depth of the hepatobiliary system (liver, biliary tree, and gall bladder) as the "axis of evil" in detox. Shoemaker notes that neurotoxins and biotoxins (bacteria, viruses, parasites, spirochetes, and fungus, like candida) bind themselves to the bile and form a biliary sludge, which is then re-circulated from the gut to the liver and eventually into the rest of the body. The body releases bile for digestion in the gut, which is then absorbed back into the liver for reprocessing. This constant cycle keeps re-contaminating the gut and eventually causes even more damage to the CNS. The biotoxins continue to grow in number as more and more of the good bacteria in the gut diminish from the toxic overload. The biotoxins then start to create more neurotoxins from their own metabolism and thus impact the CNS even further.

These cyclic events must be addressed with diet and supplementation. We utilize a specific high-fat diet to cause the hepatobiliary tree to dump its sludge into the gut. With the help of butyric acid to soften the sludge in the liver, and binding agents to catch it in the gut, we can safely escort the neurotoxins out of the body.

Low-fat diets can be a major contribution to neurotoxic disease because the lack of fat inhibits the release of bile. As your body's first line of defense against neurotoxins, the bile normally binds to the neurotoxins and brings them back to the liver for processing. Only when the system becomes overloaded with continuous toxins do we see the constant retox effect occur. The high quality fat in the Neurotoxic Diet (NTD) not only stimulates the biliary sludge from the hepatobiliary tree, but it also serves as the key to cellular regeneration. We like to refer to this as "lipid therapy."

As discussed earlier, the neurotoxins like to bind themselves to the cellular membrane, thus disrupting energy metabolism, etc.; however, this also causes some other problems with the very important cell membrane. Each cell is made up of a lipid bi-layer (2 layers of fats called phospholipids). The neurotoxins cause the stimulation of enzymes, Phospholipase A2 (PLA2), which uncouple the good, essential fatty acids from the cell membrane and cause an inflammatory response (Verity, et al., 1994). This then permits the renegade fatty acids (FA) as saturated, very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA) and odd-chain fatty acids to attach to the cell membrane. These types of fats destroy the integrity of the membrane, and this process eventually causes congestion in the cell. The cell then has trouble bringing nutrition and oxygen in, and waste out, a condition known as a reduction in cellular fluidity. This has become known as a ‘plasticized cell membrane’. It's obvious how this leads to disease over time and why it's impossible for the body to get well until the process is restored to normal function.

While controlling the over-stimulation of PLA2 is a must for detoxification and regeneration at the cellular level, another problem we face is that an increase in insulin levels is also a major stimulator of PLA2. Due to that cause and effect relationship, "Carbohydrate consumption, as one of the most profound stimulators of PLA2, must be restricted in order to control the insulin response and subsequent loss of those EFA's (essential fatty acids) and the eventual metabolic distortion" (Detoxification of Biotoxins in Chronic Neurotoxic Syndromes, Kane, PhD, and John Foster, M.D.).

This point cannot be overemphasized. If you do not control the carbohydrate (sugar) intake, the patient will not detox at the cellular level. If the cell is not healthy, the patient will not be healthy. ONLY the Neurotoxic Diet (NTD) addresses this incredibly important issue.

One of the fats most frequently lost from the membrane is arachidonic acid. AA has been given a bad rap lately for no good scientific reason. It is the most prominent EFA in the red blood cells and comprises 12% of the total brain and 15% of the body lipid content. "AA is preferentially wasted in the states of heavy metal toxicity" (Tiin and Lin, 1998) "and has been observed to be sharply suppressed in RBC Lipid analysis in states of heavy metal toxicity" (Kane, PhD, clinical observation, 1997-2003).

Depletion at the membrane leaves a competitive inhibition between the Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids. In neurotoxic patients, we typically see an inappropriate ratio of FA's; that is, too much Omega 3 and not enough Omega 6. This is the exact opposite of what most patients struggle with and is what makes neurotoxicity and the diet to correct it DIFFERENT. Consequently, neurotoxic people taking Omega 3 in the form of fish oil alone get high concentrations of Omega 3 which causes the AA levels to go down (Tiin and Lin, 1998); therefore, the cellular membrane becomes more unstable and it allows renegade fats and very long-chain fatty acts (VLCFA), all bad fats, to attach themselves to the cell membrane and thus decrease the fluidity of the cell, which then results in a toxic cell. This is one reason that the Neurotoxic Diet (NTD) contains copious amounts of good butter, eggs, and grass-fed meat, all loaded with AA.

In any state of toxicity, we definitely must stabilize Omega 6 fatty acids and the main eicosanoid AA before introducing Omega 3 lipids (Attwell et al., 1993). The body loses its ability to metabolize fats in states of toxicity and therefore becomes depleted in these important FA's (Omega 6 and AA). In extensive research (1993-1995, 1998, 2000, and 2004), Yehuda revealed an optimum 4:1 ratio between Omega 6 and Omega 3 FA's. When this ratio is not present, the cell and the body become toxic. This optimum balance of FA's makes up this perfect God-designed cellular membrane that lets nutrition in and waste out.

God also designed cells to communicate with one another by a system derived from FA's and glycoproteins. When we alter this balance with neurotoxins, biotoxins, supplementation with the wrong FA's, a diet high in the bad fats or one low in the good fats and loaded with processed foods, it is only a matter of time before the symptoms start to appear.

The most popular diet addressing neurotoxic disease is a diet free of gluten and casein (wheat and dairy). The autistic community popularized this diet through an organization called D.A.N.S. While this diet addresses symptoms that result from food allergies/intolerances, it does little to correct the cause of Neurotoxic Membrane Syndrome (NMS). In contrast, the Neurotoxic Diet (NTD) does correct the cause. Only the Neurotoxic Diet (NTD) deals with retoxification and healing of the cellular membrane, two of the greatest challenges in detoxifying from neurotoxic disease. When the patient follows our protocol step by step, healing occurs.

I believe with all my heart that God's greater purpose in my struggles with toxicity from Mercury and poisoned root canals was that I would discover this important information and develop this protocol to help the multitudes of people tormented by neurotoxic diseases. Because of this, I give God the honor and glory for all the good that has come from my suffering and the development of this program. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:27-29).

 IMPLEMENTING THE Neurotoxic Diet (NTD)

Step 1: Remove all hydrogenated oils and rancid vegetable oils (transfats) from your diet.

These fats attach themselves to the cell wall as very long-chain and odd-chain fatty acids. If not completely removed from the diet, cell detoxification and regeneration cannot occur. Remember, if you don't heal the cell, you don't heal the body.

Step 2: Remove all grains and sugar.

This step is critical to master. Especially in neurotoxic individuals, grains and sugar raise glucose and insulin levels, thereby increasing PLA2 activity. Remember, PLA2's cause inflammation and waste the good fatty acids off the cell membrane, thus leading to cellular congestion, which decreases cell fluidity. This condition then leads to Neurotoxic Membrane Syndrome (NMS).

Step 3: Lipid therapy is a must for increasing good fats and oils.

The cell membrane is a lipid bi-layer (2 layers of fat); therefore, if we are going to heal the membrane, we must give it the proper nutrition and tools. Remember, too, that we need increased fat in order to get the bile sludge, loaded with neurotoxins and biotoxins, to dump from the hepatobiliary tree and be safely escorted out of the body.

Increase intake of grass-fed meat. Unlike grain-fed meat, grass-fed meat has the proper ratio of fatty acids.

Increase intake of good butter. (See www.organicpastures.com.)

Increase intake of free-range eggs, 6 to 12 daily.

Increase intake of RAW nuts and seeds, preferably soaked in water overnight.

Increase intake of good oils such as extra virgin olive, sunflower, safflower, borage, coconut, and grapeseed oils, if processed without heat. Flora brand is a good source, imported olive oils are best.

Begin taking Body Bio Balance 4:1 Oil, 2 tablespoons daily. Remember, the ratio of fats is extremely important in detoxing and regenerating the cell. We first build the fatty acid base with the correct ratio of Omega 6 and Omega 3 FA's before ever giving Omega 3 by itself. Arachidonic acid also plays a very important role here (grass-fed meats, butter, and eggs).

Use Soybean Lecithin from Standard Process for phosphotidyle choline (PhosChol), 5 to 20 caps daily; children, 4 to 6 caps daily. This very dense fat, by far the most important fat for lipid therapy, helps dump the biliary sludge and is a pure building block for the cell membrane.
